Email the following information to the Chief Returning Officer (cro as
usual at torfree.net) before the day of the AGM:
- Your full name (eg John Smith).
- An affirmation that you are at least 18 years old and that you are
not currently bankrupt ("I solemnly declare that I have reached the
age of 18 years and that I have no undischarged bankruptcies.").
This is required by TFN bylaw #1, paragraph 19.
- Your TFN username (eg aa123). If you do not have a TFN username,
you can still run but you must obtain one, by becoming a member,
at the latest within 10 days of getting elected.
- An email address at which interested voters can contact you with
questions. This address will be published on the web, using
the format "username at domain" instead of "username@domain".
The former defeats some spammers. For email addresses @torfree.net,
the "at torfree.net" part will be omitted. This defeats all
general-purpose address harvesters.
- A URL at which you will post about yourself to inform voters
about you. Or just email your text along with your other details,
and the CRO will create a web page for you.
Upon sending your information to the CRO, you will be emailed back, at
the address which you gave, to confirm that you were the one who sent the
message and that you are indeed standing for election. Once you reply,
your details will be added to the list of nominees.
If the CRO publishes your candidacy essay for you, you won't be able to
update it. If you are already a TFN member, you have an alternative:
you can publish web page(s) about your candidacy in
your TFN webspace.
At the AGM, candidates will have a chance to speak and to answer questions
from members, in person.
