About our email service

Manifesto.

We believe that everyone should have access to a stable, long term, email address.  No matter how little they can afford.  No matter what type of computer they use, old or new.

We want access for everyone, without compromising the confidentiality of our correspondence.  Without jeopardizing our civil liberties.  Without banner ads.  Without our habits getting monetized in some other compromizing way.  Without being forced to pay high prices for mediocre Internet service, just to retain the myname@phone.ca  or  myname@cable.com email address which we gave to our classmates back in 1996.  Without losing our freemium address when the well-intentioned provider runs out of venture capital or when new owners take over.

We wanted stable, secure email, free of charge, unhindered by commercial or other secret agendas.  And we built it!

TFN has delivered Internet to the GTA & surrounding communities since 1994 — the dawn of the web boom.  We learned how to provide decent email at a cost that is low enough to fund a free service, from general revenues, sustainably.  As a non-profit, TFN can't be sold (that would be illegal).  As the oldest Internet provider in Toronto, we have proven the longevity of a torfree.net email address.  It's yours even if you don't pay TFN for a connection.

Donations are definitely welcome but we don't guilt you out.
